English as an Additional Language (EAL)

At NZSJ, we pride ourselves on being an international community of learners, and we recognise that this means that not all our students will speak English, the School’s language of learning, fluently. Therefore, we provide a strong English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme headed by Tim Maitland, who comes with over 10 years of experience teaching children of all levels and backgrounds. He works closely with the homeroom teachers to identify the language support that is required and to create personalised lessons based on the needs of the students. This programme is offered during class hours, as well as in the form of an afterschool activity.
